| I have heard that they are a bit of a pain unless you really know what you are doing. If one dies and you don't find it within a day or so it can foul up your tank pretty bad. I looked into them about a year ago and risk vs reward wasn't to my liking at all so I stayed away from them. |

| There are a lot of clams that when they reproduce their young are parasites that can hurt fish.... If you want to try them do so in a fishless tank and see how you like them and if you can care for them before putting them into a main tank...... 3 weeks minimum, in case of disease. |

| I wuld stay away if i wer you. The water conditions in your tank are way differant than a lake. They will start to produce toxins to mimmic their needs and throw your levels off and eventualy die. They stink bad when they do(trust me!). Lake Perris is where my kids got them from. | |

| I wouldnt drink from any lake in socal. Let me guess, you have test strips in your wallet dont ya? lol. Just dont mix them in with any of your fish for a while. Good luck, let me know whats up after a couple of weeks. OH AND BY THE WAY, WHO IN THE I.E. HASNT HAD LAKE PERRIS WATER. AQUAFINA bottles it down the street from there.Hmmmm. | |

| I agree if you want to try them do it in a 10g without fish and see how it works out. Take your test kit and test the lake water and match your water before you get the clams, that will help them from dying on you. Let us know how it works out.
Any wc experiment can be done in a 10g without any fish, that's how I did my crested goby. |

| Nice!!Imma c wat ends up happenning!!! thank you all for ur advice!!! much appreciated:) and hey wat if i take bout 7gals of the lake water with me?i mean 7 or so Gals of their original water and lik 3 or so new treated water... just let the filter do the work for a cpl days then de a water change often....u think by doin that they will slowly adapt 2 the better water? i mean eventually the lake water will be gone from the 10G.......... should i do that for bout a month or so? | |

| Wouldn't think so. They need to open their mouth to filter, and the mouth looks like meat to a fish so yeah, they are goners | |
