I have a fluval 405 and I normally run nothing but bio max in it.....To get rid of this cloud I added a box of carbon and 6 polishing pads.....I noticed an improvement within 10 min. It has now been running over night and all i can say is wow!!!!!! What a huge improvement...I think I will now be running polishing pads and carbon full time.....I am very impressed as to how fast that stuff cleared up the water and how clear it is.... Once you use the polishing pads, take them out, rinse them, and store them away. (only use it accordingly: after water changes or when the water gets cloudy) ...I wouldn't use them continuously because your filter will get clogged up quickly, which shortens the life of your filter.

| I would let it filter thru a bit and then Change out the filter media and do a water change see if that helps. | |

| Ok...I adjusted the angle of the out flow as well as the power head. I aimed them more at the surface of the water. I created more movement on top which allowed all that "stuff" to start falling and get picked up by the filter........long story short....We now have crystal clear water | |

| Cichlid Mania, did you cycle the tank or are you using an old filter/media? You need one or the other before you add fish. Then do so slowly or you will get spikes that could kill them. Carbon isn't needed here, Carbon should only be used when pulling old meds from the water. It will not help cloudiness or water quality all it will do is pull chems and meds out of the water. I think your fine without a background. I don't use them myself. I just never scrape the algae off the back glass and let it grow and call it a background The best part is its free and looks good. |

Hey!! I am actually using my old media. I saved it from taking apart the tank for shipment . I am pulling the carbon out tonight and will do a water test to ensure everything is good. I will not be putting anyfish in until the moori arrive....this way the tank will have plenty of time to cycle 100%

| Did you put the driftwood in? Because if you did that is probably why your water is clouding up again. You need to boil the wood and rinse and boil and rinse. Then let it soak for about 24 hours and then should be good to add to your tank. | |

| If you have a 2 sided filter you can run a polishing pad in one side and just wash it bi-weekly. |
