| With plants you will most likely not get the algae growth you have now. I find with small tanks you must use a heavier sand or it's always getting in the filter. Small tanks are fun to do plants in IMO. |

| You can find large grain sand in many sites. If you shop around you can usually find a deal. |

| Crystal sands is the brand, you can just about vacuum it like gravel, Its all I use! |
