| does anyone have any experience with this mechanism? i would like to have a curain of bubbles across the back of my tank but don't want to use an external air pump due to noise and they burn up so quickly. i've heard you need a check valve when you use this but i don't know what that is or where it would go as hydor doesn't mention it in their literature and they don't include one. any advice would be appreciated. | |

| I found some info on a Hydor Ario Turbo Air Pump at drsfostersmith.com. (I like this site) If that is what you have then Depending on the size that you have you can berry the base in your substrate leaving the tray on top of the substrate. Then run the cord and airline combo up the back of the tank securing it with some suction cups. Cut the airline about 1-1.5" above the tank and place the check valve here. The check valve is used to keep water in your tank when you experience a power loss. One can be bought from any pet store even any Wal-Mart for around 1.80 or something close to that. | |

| i had one for about 6 months and it worked great. you burry it on the substrate and there is a hose that is supposed to go outside the tank. That is where it gets the air. It is not noisy at all however if water falls in the hose where it gets oxygen it will burn the engine i think. water went into mine and it stopped working days after. | |
