| I have been thinking of a central system for my fish tanks and had an idea of using an Old Hot Tub for the pump, Heater and controls. I would like to hear everyones opinion Pro and Con to this idea. I already know cleaning would be huge here. But still think the idea is worth checking out.
Let me know your thoughts...........Thanks |

| I absolutely do not see why this WOULDN'T work... In fact I think its a genius idea. Where is the location of this going to be though? Is it going to be a garage or a basement I assume? |

| It would be in the basement and the tanks would be above them on the first floor. I am planning on having automatic shutoff valves incase of power failure the tanks will not drain out. I would not be using the tub part just all the components of it. I have an idea for the filter system. Which would be a series of bread racks and sheet filters placed in each one. Also thought of maybe one having carbon or other media to help make the water better. Still working on the exact design too. |

| Not a bad idea! Have you thought of using the tub part to aid in water changes. Have a predetermined amount of water in the tub circulating with all the water for the aquariums. Then when its time for a water change you could shut off return pump, close drain valve,(valves) and then pump water out to water you lawn or plants. Then refill with fresh water and return to filter status. A lot of work to set up but I think it would be worth it. |

| I have lots of ideas, but money will be the final detriming factor how far I can go. I like the ideas of a UV filter, automatic water level system, rain water collection and yes the automatic water change system. Not sure how all this would be possible but it would be awesome if I can figure it out. Most of it I have considered using a plc programmed to control valves. But a multi channel timer may work too. But I have many ideas, just have to get things moved into one room and begin to figure it all out step by step. |
