a large piece of zucchini or cucumber with a spoon pushed into it to keep it weighted down. place it near his hiding spot, you'll see him grazing on it.

don't leave it in the tank overnight, it will spoil and ruin your water quality.

only offer when the lights are on, or he'll wait till they're off to feed.

Most Plecos are creatures of the dark and shadows . That being said , I agree with Cohazard on the Zucchini except I rubber band it to a rock . Most of the time you will see it come out to graze . But , sometimes not ! I have a Gold Nugget that I hardly ever see.
Good Luck ,,, Ray

He's being normal. He doesn't want to be bothered by the lights and just doing what is natural for them.

If you want to view him out and about, I would recommend a blue actinic light.

Guess they aptly named the Blue Phantom.

My pleco hides too. The one I had as a kid was always on the side of the tank, but not this one. He even took over the Rainbow shark's hidey hole. Gonna buy another hisey hole thing in a few days.
