I'm using two of the 350's on my 72 bowfront. They seem to work OK. Once I have some more cash, I'm going to upgrade them to a Eheim canister.

no reason to vote IMHO they are essintially the same thing as in they are a biowheel powerfilter. the thing is i know wal mart carried penguin for a time but i dont think they do anymore when they did carry them they were cheap compared to the emperor. i prefer teh emperor but they are essentially the same filter.

yep, since they are both biowheels they are both effective so just by whichever one is cheaper, around here the penguin brand ones are cheaper than the emperors. so if you want a bio whel filter pic either one of these they are both good, but at the same time save yourself a few buck and get the one that is cheaper.

do you understand my comment about which is cheaper now phil lol!

Yes I do. I have two marineland ones that broke on me whenever the dog chewed on them. H E L P !! . So I'm looking to order a filter right away on the internet while doing daily water changes of 25%.

For now, the fish will be stuck with two 15 gallon filters fighting.

this is what i was sayin gthey both perform the same so buy whichever one is cheaper (i have seen a few rare instances where the emperors are cheaper when they are on sale but i have not seen this often).

They are BOTH made from the same company (Marineland), the Emperor is the "Better" version of the two. They are supposed to be more powerful and to be the upgraded version. I would buy the Emperor again if I had to. I really like my Emperor.

Plain ole Penguin or "Emperor Penguin"???

I was in the store today and the Emp400 was $39.

The only downs side of the emperor is if you have snails they will work their way into the filter and some end up in the spray bars blocking the holes. I just use a toothpick to clear the holes till they don't clear any more than I take them off and rinse them out.

I know, I was hoping to find one cheaper. I do have snails but the cichlid tear right through them so it would be no problem. I was going to add another sack of carbon in there just to make it work even better.

NEED CHEAP FILTER. ORDERING TONITE!
