| I have an LFS close to me that is privately owned and i've known all the employees there for as long as i've been in this area. I also sell them reptiles and other critters. I get fish at cost usually, and they get stuff that the chain stores around here don't. So I always get fish from there, especially back when I was just keeping smaller community tanks. In the past year I have had way too many losses on their fish, even worse, i've had two tanks and over 100 fish wiped out because of their stock. After having replacements, and free meds from them, I finally gave up. I just didn't like how they were treating their fish, or NOT treating their fish. These kids running aquatics were in their young 20's and i've been keeping fish for almost a decade longer then they've been alive! So there was a change in who was running aquatics again, and I gave it a try. Spent about $60+ on lots of community fish in the last two weeks. Half of them died with a few days, some that were placed in another small community tank infected it with ich and I lost other fish too. 3 beautiful german blue rams I paid top dollar for also died. Three seperate tanks of fish. Enough was enough. I go to talk to the kid, but he obviously can't believe that it's him and not me, so I speak to the owner. He totally works with me, and few minutes later, i'm walking out with a brand new filter on the house! He says he'll take care of me, so I go and grab a new in box Aquaclear 70 priced at $49.99. I say I figure this plus tax is around $55, which is close to what I spent here in fish last week alone, and i'd be happy with that. He said if that will make you happy, take it! Then on the way home I picked up a used Marineland Magnum 350 canister filter with new o rings, impella, and extra attachments for $40. Now i've got filters for my 75g and 90g that i've wanted to setup. Just have to build that stand now! | |

| Very nice!!! You will love the ac 70!! Get both of them running on your big tank now so they can be collecting bacteria. |

| Thanks guys, I know, I was very excited... lol
I almost immediately started thinking I should've asked for more, but these days i'm more content with doing what's right and not being greedy.
Before I walked in, the plan was to simply recover what I spent the last time, which was the $55-$60, and that's exactly what I got, so I couldn't be happier.
It's still in the box, wrapped in plastic, and now was wondering if I should return it and give them the other $25-$30 or so for the Aquaclear 110.
but i'm thinking the 70 would be more useful since I will have many more smaller tanks than larger tanks, and i'd most likely be using canisters on the larger tanks.

| I personally would keep the 70 if you are going to upgrade to a canister. |

| I run the 70 on a 55g and a 29g, they do have a bit of a flow adjuster. |

| I can't help but ask if you QT these new fish you get?
You stated in your post that you put some in a community tank, and it ended up getting infected with ich..
Just because the pet store treats them doesn't mean you shouldn't.
