im no expert on angelfish breeding. but genetics is something i know. depending on whether the smokey pearl phenotype is a dominant, co-dominant, or recessive gene.
if its Dominant then worse case scenario is that the parent are both carriers
Parents Aa x Aa = Offspring AA(25%), Aa(50%), aa(25%) ∴ 75% of the offspring will look like the parents

CoDominance would suggest that a random combination of genes makeup the smokey pearl phenotype and more research would need to be done to determine what yur gna get.

if its recessive then all the offspring would look the parents.

this a very simple breakdown however. and you wont know until you breed many generations and take lots of notes so you create a detailed genetic profile. culling and line breeding also helps to get the desired look your goin for.

This site helped me out in understanding angelfish and how some traits are transferred. **LINK**

If you really take the time to look over the fish you got that site is pretty useful in determining that possible traits will come out of breeding them. It also goes over all the common expressions and names given to traits that are common in the hobby.

Kaashan your right on what you'll get. The real questions is what were the parents. Example if you cross a gold with a silver you will get golds and silvers. You breed the golds offspring and you will silvers and golds. If you don't know parents you will be scratching your head asking how did I get silvers. Blacks will give you strangest off spring because blacks are not breed black to black.
