I have 7 firemouths in my tank and my 2 oldest and largest just dont attack the food anymore like they did when they were young. They look overall healthy but there color is not as good as the younger fish. The young fish attack the food at the top but the 2 largest just seem to stay near the bottom and if food happens to get very close to them then they will strike it but they are not getting much to eat. Is this normal for older larger cichlids???

Have you tried adding some live food to the menu on a regular basis? They are omnivores and may be needing something higher protein - and something that tries to get away.

Try some frozen bloodworms and brine shrimp. I also give some of mine earthworms occasionally. They love 'em!
