blah, snails...

First topic message reminder :

Aside from picking them out by hand (which I dread), what are other ways to diminish their population? I'm hoping my guppies and corys are enough to bring them down but it doesn't seem to be happening.

These are the snails I have.

Note... they freak me out lol, don't know why every time I try to pick them out I freak out a little (yes I know I'm being a pansy) but I got over screaming every time I touched one :D

Some of us bought or acquired hybrids when we didn't know any better so they are here and healthy so got to give them the best while alive. Just don't breed them.

Ya they were given to me, both males so no breeding
They are pets and fry disposal units.

After reading up on these guys - I think I want some. Maybe a few will make it past the crayfish and keep two of my class tanks clean...

first, pick off all the ones you can and send them to me because I LOOOVE snails and think they're cooler than anything else ever.

Then, you do what the terror daycare child did - toss a cherry poptart and a handful of princess temporary tattoos in there (it is essential to do this at the point where the only other adult goes to the bathroom for the first time in 6hours) and giggle like a maniac (which will cause the other adult to waddle out of the bathroom and trip over his/her own pants to see what you could have possibly done this time).

Warning though - this will not make your fish happy and soggy poptart is a PITA to get out of a tank even with a ton of water changes. I lost all my female guppies - but the males apparently are of the adolescent age and they did JUST fine on a poptart diet. I lost all the snails :( but I'm starting to re-snail through a few friends giving me their "rejects" :p
