If anyone has any Betta pictures I'd love to see them. Post them so we can all see your beauties. Here is one of mine. He is a Green Half Moon. He is only 5 months old so he has a lot more finage growth to do yet.

Reno, my Crowntail male. I need to get a more recent pic. This one was taken when I first got him. His fins have recovered pretty nicely:

No, I don't breed them. I guess I was just bitten by the Betta bug. They're like potato chips. You can't have just one. LOL. They are such beautiful fish and full of personality. Reno was my first Betta, then I also got Sky. When Sky died I got Pepper. Then I decided I'd like to try some females. The males each have their own tank. The females are in a 37 gallon community tank and are getting along well in there.

Yes that's how I go started too. Now I have hundreds of them! I specialize in the HM. I have two that were sent to the Michigan show this week end. If you would like a quality HM to add to your collection just let me know. I have lots to chose from. LOL

Ooohh...that's a tempting offer. I've always wanted a HM. I'll keep you in mind. But right now I have too many tanks as it is. lol

Good luck with your show.

Nice boy and girl. WOW she has a nice full egg tube. You should breed them. How old are they? Is she a HM or VT? I don't think she is a HM.

She is a regular betta, just with good color. I am hoping that they breed today while I am at work.

I have had them breed in my big tank, but never intentionally. I have been reading up on it though.

My breeding tank has so many fake plants, the female will be able to escape the male after they breed.

You need to take her out as soon as they are done for two reasons. First she will eat the eggs, second he will kill her trying to keep her away from them. It could take up to three days of violent courtship before they breed. Don't expect to come home from work and it's been done. Has he blown his bubble nest yet? Does she have her vertical stripes showing that she is ready for breeding? Have you conditioned both of them first with live meat foods such as frozen bloodworms or BBS? These are all things to do before just throughing them together. To have a succssful breeding there are things to do first.

Stopped by at home for a minute...they were done!!! I could see the eggs and she was much thinner. Like I said, I had an absolute ton of fake plants, and she was fine, the male did keep her away from the nest though. I scooped her up and put here back in her net cage. I also gave her a black worm.

Clay watch him closely now for the next few days. As soon as you see them swimming on there own take him out right away or he will eat them.
