My unicorn vlamingi tang is different at night

This is my first time seeing this. I did further research and a few hobbyist that
keep this species say they change into a totally different fish at night. This pic
was taking at 5am this morning with just the flash from the camera.

about 3", they get 18"

This is a picture of an 11" adult.
Before he gets that size, I hope to have at least
a 125-150 ready for him. If not I'll sale him for $100(easy).

Amazing how they change from day to nite !! Really awesome Fish. I got a lot to learn about saltys. Thks for sharing the awesome shots...

they actually have four different color stages(fry, juvy, sub-adult and adult).
that's the only pic I could find though.

N i bet each stage is just as kolorful as the last!!!!

Right now he's a little over 3 1/2" and in a 20 gallon long.
My next tank is a 55 or 75. That should house him and a
few more fish for a year or so. To be honest, he doesn't
need to be in a tank this small. Even at the size he is now.

It takes about 2 years to get full size.

so i guess that leaves the 40g hex out!!! hahaha
owell maybe wen i get used to SW n get a bigger tank ill get one!

those tangs get REAL big but have a LOT of personality!!!! definately one of my faves... but they really do need large tanks... good look with him.

You could house a yellow tang or a scopas tang for way over a year if you bought him at 2"-3".
