Bizarre fish with scary-looking teeth throw scare into lake community
By: Pete Thomas, GrindTV.com

The discovery of an alien fish species in a small lake in Illinois has put locals and tourists on edge because the fish posses dangerous-looking teeth and bear a striking resemblance to ravenous piranha.

This saga began when a NewsChannel 5 viewer informed the station that piranhas were being caught by fishermen in Lake Lou Yaeger, which is located in the community of Litchfield.

(One fish was captured on June 7 and a second was reportedly hooked more recently.)

It seemed eerily like a landlocked version of "Jaws," but without the enormous shark and corny lines, such as, "I think we're going to need a bigger boat."

South american freshwater fish. Omnivore hmmmmm.
IT was a pacu these fish become way to big for aquariums. Imagine them becoming over 3 feet in our native waters eating the native fish. But they are suppose to be tasty eating this superior taste was compared to rainbow trout tasty tasty.[b]

Our native fish as we know them will someday unfortunately be a thing of the past. With people dumping there unwanted aquarium fish in our lakes and rivers and foreign species being released. The sight a youngster catching their first little sunfish will no longer be the thrill of a life time. So sad what is happening.

I don't even like it when some "sportsman" and I use the term losely decides he needs to be able to fish for bass in his little section of river and puts a bunch there as the bass will eat the salmon and steelhead smolt as well as any smolt from other native fish.

I do fish and hunt, but I won't turn any of my aquarium flora/fauna lose in the wild. The flora goes on the burn pile, and I haven't had to get rid of fauna besides pond snails which I take to a small pet store for them to feed their puffers whole, or feed other fish squished.

Pacu, Pirhana, Weather Loach, and Snake heads aren't legal in Oregon to buy or sell.
