Well I have a 10 g tank where I put 2 Hybrids my friends gave me and a pleco. One day they both died with no symptoms. So I moved the pleco to my 55g with my oscars and some cichilds. And decided to put convict 3 week convict frys in there after a water change and the tank cycled. In both tanks the water parameters are fine.

Today when I came home I noticed the pleco doesn't look good at all. His tank is discolored and raggy looking but none of the fishes are picking on him. His eyes and top fins have the same discolor look. Not only is the pleco sick half of the convict frys have died. All of the dead ones are in the same spot on the bottom of the tank.

I honestly have no idea what this is Please help.

I haven't a clue , but I would ask ,,,, is the filter running properly ,Do you change the filter media on a reg. basis , is the water too warm , do you do frequent water changes ? Does that tank need an air bubbler ?
The pleco has me stumped as well . They are pretty hardy. And ragged fins most often means they are being picked on . ( maybe at night ? )

If both of the other fish died and the pleco is now sick I would honestly think of some kind of disease or other problem. It spread and hit the other fish first the hardier pleco held out longer but instead of just dieing quickly like the others he is showing signs.

He "could" be getting picked on but to me it would seem the sickness followed him from the other tank and it just took longer to show. I would try to compile any information in detail about what he is doing and maybe one of the disease experts on here can pinpoint a problem.

When I moved that pleco from the tank where there was dead fish in it I would have used some Metro on it and then some water changes. Introducing new fish from a tank that had problems is likely to create more problems when intorduced into new grounds.

Also might want to answer the questions Ray asked above.

Always, ALWAYS, ALWAYS!!!! Isolate sick fish instead of just moving them to another 'healthy' tank. It cannot be stressed enough! And even when they look like they've pulled through and gotten healthy in isolation - you need to keep them separate for another week just to be sure.

The filter is running fine and the media is only 3-4 weeks. The water has a heater for a 5-15 gal tank so that should be fine.I do weekly water changes for 10% of the water. The tank does have a bubbler for a 5 g tank. I dont think he was picked on he was picked at night thats when i found him in his condition.

****Also a update the rest of the fry died by this morning but again they just layed on the bottom of the tank around the same spot****

If any one has any info please say so, my convicts breed once every month or so and this is there 4th batch I think and this is the first time with any prob.

    pH?

    ACTUAL water temp?

    Copper pipes?

Recent major rain in your area? (change in tap water quality)

    Recent fish purchases?
