I have found that my new female betta has dropsy, however, not only do I also have a male betta, pleco and a dojo loach in that tank, I also have 3 clams...... if I treat with Maracyn Two, will it harm my clams? If so, what should I do? Is there anything else that would be safe to treat dropsy without hurtingthe clams? Or should I remove the clams? Thanks!

first of all remove her (female betta) to a QT by herself. 1 less medication needed in a smaller tank 2 meds not in main tank. Not only the claims but the pleco and loach may be affected by meds.

ok, both the male and female betta are in an ice chest and medicated (no other tanks open, so I improvised).... turns out the male is showing fin and tail rot (ugh). Female is in a floating breeder just so there wont be any problems.

Favorite Fish: : I like all fishies...but if I had to choose my current favorite, it would be Enigmatochromis lucanusii.

This will probably change though...so ask me again in a few hours

dropsy is a nasty thing to see in your tanks.:( Sorry to hear about that. My experience has been that no matter how quickly you catch it, sometimes medication works and sometimes it just doesn't.

I sincerely hope yours makes it through...please keep up posted on their status.

well, the female died (grr!). I had never seen a female with as long of fins as what she had, that was the reason I got her.... Now I guess I will have to wait to see if I can find another one. The male is doing fine, swimming and eating.
