First of all I'd like to say hello everyone and TYTYTY in advance to any help given.
Okiedokie, I just got myself a saltwater FOWLR setup off of craigslist. Right now it is just sitting because of my current work situation, BUT it will be started running soon!!!! I have a 55 Gal w/ wet/dry filtration and huge amounts of base rock that I plan on seeding with live rock. What I'd like some info on is how much more filtration am I going to need? It came with two other HOB type filters that I'd rather not use if possible because of my number of outlets. anyone wanna help a newbie? :D
Thanks,
Pmonck

how big is your wet dry filter??
also with about 50-60lbs of LR and the wet dry filter you should be good!!!
bioligical and Mechanical filtration is kool!
also how many fish are you thinking bout keeping in the tank?
your going to need a skimmer for the bioload your fish produce!

also Welcome to [THE BOX]!!!
plz feel free to ask any question here!!!
eplore the site amd post some pix:)

Ty for the reply. :) I dont know the size of the wet/dry but it looks to easily be the size of a 75 gal +. Awesome, I wasn't entirely sure if I was going to need a skimmer.. so I'm glad I asked :) As far as fishies... not entirely sure.. it is my goal to graduate to reef so I was thinking reef safe fishies that I could put into a new home when I feel I'm up to it. I dont want the tank like a ghost town, so moderately populated with fish, crabs/shrimp/ snails for my cleaning crew. Nothing too too hard or picky just yet. I've seen skimmers that are really nifty and extremely expensive.. What do I actually need?
Thanks for all the help :D

A 20 gallon sump (wet/dry), would be perfect for a 55gallon.

A good cheap skimmer would be the seaclone100. It's good up to 100gallons

Good starter reef fish would be:
ANY Surgeonfish (tangs) but they are ick magnets
Rabbitfish
Clowns/Damsels
must smaller Wrasse
Anthias
Hawkfish
Dottybacks
Blennies
Gobies
