Thinking of using a hob refugium on my 75 gallon soon to be reef tank. Just wondering what the up and down sides of using one may bee. I have always used a wet/dry filter so this would be the first time to use one. I was also wondering if anyone has built there own hob refugium and how it may have turned out. So far i like how this one is set up because of the bak pak protein skimmer.

EcoSystem Pro Series Hang on Back Wet/Dry Filter System
Complete wet/dry system with Bak-Pak Protein Skimmer included!

i currently own a HOB fuge!!! although i havent had much time using it id really like how it works!!
it pretty much works exactly like a HOB filter!
a pump pushes water through the whole system and becuase its sits higher than the tank does the water just falls/ pours out like a filter does.
i personally think its better as a HOB becuase pods and other good things that benefit your tank dont go through a return pump and risk getting chopped up like they would in a sump system!!! so you get the most uncut pods that your fuge produces for ya..so yea........
theirs that and all the other KOOL stuff that come attached to them like the skimmers and wet/dry systems!!:)

It is expensive, but it takes minutes to set up because it comes with everything. It should be a good investment.
