| Well im ready to rehome my 12" Pacu this week, i tried to get him out of the tank yesterday to test how hard was gonna be to get him, and YES it so hard!!!, hes too quick, strong, and agressive, i have a medium size net but once i grab his middle body with it, he starts freaking out and he makes it out of the net, wow i never seen i fish so strong like that, i was thinking maybe grabbing him with my hands and gloves, what do you guys think..? | |

| If you grab him with your hands don't wear gloves it will damage him too much. If you cant get him by next weekend I could come over with my large net and get him for you. I have moved Fred and Martha with a large net and also with my hands, some prefer the hands over the net. |

| That's what I was thinking too. A fishing net would def work! Large and harder to avoid (for the fish). | |

| fishing net will work for sure, i use a 18" diameter fishing net to make the job real easy. I also use a smaller 10" net to force the fish toward the big one. | |

| Having moved large Pacu a number of times, I have found a fishing net is the best way to go about it. Be prepared for a bath, because regardless of how you catch him, you will get wet.
If you can get a net large enough that when you net him, you can drop him below the frame of the net, you will be less likely to harm him in the transfer. You may have to keep an eye on him during transport to ensure he is still breathing and swimming normally.
Trying to work with your hands can be done, but there is too much chance of causing injury to the fish or yourself. Working with your hands also poses too much risk of dropping him during the transfer. | |

| Well, i dont mind grab him with my hands, im only worried of two things, first hes got long teeths lol, maybe in the transfer i can make a mistake and get a sweet bite, second, he can slip from my hands and harm him..., ill see if i can get a bigger net better.. thank you guys.. | |

| Use a white pillow case.....Open it up in one end of the tank and move toward him......When you get him leave him in the pillow case in a plastic bucket till you get where you are going. | |

| Do not forget pacu have teeth too, like their relatives. Have you tried a small never been used for cleaning bucket, submerge it into water and lure him in and tlit it up and if you have to drain some water out to pick it up use a small cup. Just a thought, it might also be less stress and splashing. | |
