| Anyone have any info on successful breeding of P. demasoni? Ours are just a little too young right now. I have read that they breed like crazy once they get started though. | |

| that is if they dont kill each other. i would recommend keeping a low number of males to reduce aggression. | |

| Oops I posted in saltwater! Sorry!
We have 9 in a 29 gallon about 2 inches each. I was thinking since its such a small tank maybe weeding it down to 2 males and 5 females or so.

| all i can tell you is good luck. i believe this fish is far to aggressive for a tank that size. maybe you would have a chance with just one male. good luck!!! | |

| I would say 1 male . Once they get full grown it gets pretty bad. Very nice blue thou...I love the Demasoni. | |

| i've never worked with those exact numbers, but i know people who will swear that demasoni are some of the easiest fish to breed and they start breeding real young (2 inches is big enough). I've had 2 inch females breed a number of times. actually demasonis were the first fish i ever bred successfully. | |

I would say 5 females for every male. In your 55 i would do 2 or 3 males thats it. To many could go bad.

| I had 16 in a 75 Gallon... they all killed each other...and 2 developed bloat. I now have six remaining, and they have all been separated to different tanks. I give up on breeding them. :( | |

| I have bred Demasoni for years. My sucess is that I have 2-3 males to 5-6 females. I actually have them in my main tank with others and they breed like rabbits. I really think just having them in their own tank makes them kick the crud out of each other. I have set up a breeding tank once and they beat each other up, but that does not happen in my main tank. That is just what works for me. | |

how many total do you have? I've seen someone keep a demasoni/yellow lab tank. It was crazy overstocked 75 gallon tank. He probably had 40 demasoni and about 20 yellow labs. I had 15 in 55 and they all killed each other. I only have 1 from that group and he is missing an eye and in a 12 gallon with a BN pleco. I really would like to get into them again but I won't do it unless I have a 25 plus. I've also had problems sexing them. Did you vent them?
