| cichlid mania- Have you tried just using ammonia?? It only took us 4 weeks to completely cycle our 75g with some seeded substrate and filter media. Just a thought! | |

Yeah.....I have been doing this for a few years now and have never had any issues....not sure what the problem is now....I have 10 fish in there now...hopefully they will get everything going

| I'm sure you'll straighten it out. I have just never used fish to cycle my tank before, so that is unfamiliar territory to me. :) Good luck!! | |

| Well I believe that the tank has finally cycled itself.....Woke up and the water was crystal clear after being cloudy to the point that I cannot see in it for a good 2 weeks...Fish are still alive....Odor is gone....Ammonia was off the charts, nitrites and nitrates were pretty high.....Time for a partial wc and another water test | |

| You need to wait till the ammonia reads 0 prior to a wc. The fact that you are getting reading on everything means you are getting a lot closer to being cycled. But you aren't ready for the moorii yet. |

Ammonia is at 2.0 now....has been like that for about two weeks....nitrite and nitrate are reading 0.....something needs to happen....this tank is getting nasty and the morri will be here soon

| If ammonia is 2.0 with no nitrates and no nitrites it means you have no bacterial colony yet. | |

| You need to ask someone in your area for some used filter media or even filter squeezing's would help! |

| If you have another tank that is already cycled you can put water from it in the filter of the tank you are trying to cycle.
Or you take a handful of substrate from a cycled tank and put it in a filter bag and put it in your new tank either of these methods will start your bacteria colony.
