For all the arowana experts out there, can you identify this type? It has a hint of red by its tail, green and blue scales.

what about an old spa?

I'm going to see if I could get a hold of a new 1,500 gal septic tank and use that. I already have a pre-built filter in a head box I plan on using that can handle that size tank considering it was built to filter them Add on a 150gal pump tank for holding of preconditioned water along with a mercury float switch for auto filling..... Bolt an aluminum pool ladder on the inside for easy cleaning access. Build a cage with chicken wire to keep the critters out. I have prefab'd diffuser bars for the air and a blower to handle it. I used to build this kind of stuff for a living, just for poop and not fish but the idea is the same.

Probably next year before I have the $ to rent the needed heavy equipment for the install. We let ours get repossessed and sold the rest. I still have to work out all the finer details as well.

tired to talk my wife into letting me change the pool into a 6500 gal saltwater tank, she said no, and asked me if i was crazy. Sher didnt by 'the swimming with the fishies line either.

Update: Arowana jumped through a small opening in the glass tops and died.

I grew one to 28 inches 15 years ago. It jumped out of the tank. Cover the tank and put weight on it when it grows. Not even the glass tops will keep it from getting out of the tank.

Not to but you have so be sooo careful. Im sorry you lost him. We had to put weights on our tank. Our Aro still tries to position himself for a jump every time we open the top.

Thanks but I did have it covered. Small opening where the heater is and somehow he got through. Oh well, he was an awesome fish and now hes gone.

my fish jumped threw a 3in opening where my hob was. i guess fish are smarter than we think they are.

iv had lik 5 guramis that did the same thing!!!!! they slipped out of my canopy!!! all of em did!!!
wonder y they do that? i mean it wasnt lik they were in a small tank!!! it was a 55 gal!!!
