When my dad was younger he worked in a fish store and they had one that would lay his spines down to get fed and petted. There was also a pleco that would go to the surface of the water upside down to get fed. Just pour the food right into his mouth! (Yes my MTS is my dads fault ) |

| Those are some great stories. I have only had a oscar that really interacted with me. She was a lot of fun. I would feed her crickets by hand, we played catch with a ping pong ball and when she was just like my wife she got mad and threw tempertanturms fairly often. | |

| Wow! Very nice tanks. Are the Julies hiding in that pic? Also, how do you like those breeding caves? Do they work well? | |

Thanks Snyder...Caves are working good as homes but not breeding...YET. The Leleupi are too young to breed as they are not even a year old yet. The J. marlieri are hiding because they are protecting their new eggs. ( I only have ONE pair in the 20L) You can see the male guarding the entrance under the holey rock. I have two generations growing out in that tank right now underneath the holey rock. You can't see them because the substrate camouflages them very well (they are tiny and always hiding). I always know when the female has laid her eggs, she disappears for a week or so while she protects the eggs. | |

| How much was your pool filter sand? For some odd reason, lowes didn't have the cheapo kind and only had the $25 ones. Asked around for sand and there was only regular childrens play sand which is still kinda ugly | |

| I got my pool filter sand at Ace Hardware i think it was 10 bucks for 50lbs...i think it was made by hth...I put 150lbs in my 125 tank. u also need to wash it alot before it goes in the tank...i just pour some in a 5gal bucket and ran water hose in it till it ran clear....i would definatly stay away from play sand

lowes has some pfs in a white bag that says PLAY SAND this could be used and you could also use pavestone brand pulverised limestone which is 4.68 for a 40lb bag at home depot. i use the pulverised limestone in my salt tank and it is nice grain size, it is however calcium corbonate type material so i would check to see what kind of buffering effect it will have on your tank i know it works great for saltwater but not sure on the freshwater side of things. |
