Breeding cone with net

Found this cone with the net. I don't understand why you would want a net on it. Aren't the parents supposed to care for the eggs? How can they with a net on it?

Discus have a tendency to eat eggs if spooked. And they spook easily.

The net they can fan through an still take care of the eggs just not close enough to eat them. You place the net after the eggs are laid.
