| I have an albino Bristlenose male and a Brown Bristlenose females together . It's been about two months now and still no eggs. I do have another ABN male. Should I put both of the males in with the one female? Will that get something going? | |

| What's the temp in the tank? I've had the most success at warmer temps. Also, what do you have for caves? | |

| All my BNs spawn in colder water... When i say colder i mean colder than my hypancistrus tanks that are somewhere between 82-84. My ancistrus spawns in colder temps ranging 72-76 deg. | |

| It's a bare bottom tank . In it is a small clay pot and a piece of driftwood. Temp is about 72-74. | |

| my longfins spawn all the time at 80 C. i would not add the other male in as they will certainly fight with one another i know becuase i tried it lol. you could always change males. also have you conditioned the female. (what are you feeding them?) | |

| They are very well fed. They get a large piece of squash every day plus variouse types of sinking cichlid pellets and veggie waffers, and once a week they get freeze dried tubaflexworms soaked in garlic. | |

| I bought the female from a breeder and he said she has bred before. Yes they get frequent water changes. I have another male I can try. Maybe I'll change them today. | |

| i thought it was easy to tell when they bred but my mom just had her longfins spawn. she called me two days ago saying the male was killing the female. i told her not to worry that they were just breeding. she was all excited and then yesterday when she looked in the cave apparently a female had bred a week ago as there was fry and eggs in the cave lol. she didnt even know they had breed. | |

| Yes they are in a tank alone. The female is a little bigger then the male. Could that be a problem? | |

| No the other male is the same size as this one. The breeder that I got her from said she will have the ABN which is what I want. I don't want browns. | |

She's Brown so She'll spit out a lot of browns...Unless she has the albino genes, I do not see how she'll make ABN babies. Albinism is is a recessive gene. Try a bigger male and see if that helps. Also when conditioning feed them BW. I has always worked for me. | |

| i think you hsould just get an albino female then. this way you can avoid what jojo is talking about. i also feed mine blood worms everynight and each of my females breed every month. i have also had a bad experience tieh them and it killed all old breeding trio. good luck but i am sure they will do it soon. if you are going to order some. i would suggest jojo or snook21 on aquabid.com i bunch of us haved a buch from him and he has great stuff. i got a trio from him and they bred only 3 days after recieving them. | |

| no i have 1 male and 2 females. i know a bunch of people who have lots of extra females around. this is not a problem but to many males will cuase them to fight over caves and breeding rights. | |

| Okay, so first off, sand is good instead of bare bottom, but bare bottom will suffice for now. You need to get more than one cave in there. Remember, fish are like humans. They like to have choices. Same goes for your trio. One male to more than one female is always better. Two males will spend more time fighting than they will breeding. I've had good success at 80 degrees. Some others have mentioned cooler temps. That is all experimental. Lots of heavy proteins like bloodworms need to be fed to ensure egg production. And last, but certainly not least, small but consistent water changes.
Anything left out? | |

| I breed mine with 2 males, 6-8 females. The dominate male usually does all the breeding. He will do 1 to 5 or 6 females at once sometimes. I get lots of fry this way. I strip them from his cave before they start leaving it and raise them in bare bottom tanks for ease of maintenance, they poop a lot and are quite messy. I have 4 breeder groups and tons of fry this way. Really about all it akes to breed them is a male and female. I have found that the younger males do better so I rotate males sometimes if they slow down. | |
