I was wondering if anyone here has bred Lamp Trets (5 Bar) of Lamp Nkembae (Kendalli). If so, please share details. Also, is a 40 gallon breeder tank large enough to breed either of those? I appreciate the info, thanks. If not those specifically, info on a similar type fish would be beneficial. I have had mixed Tang tanks forever, and am finally getting the breeder's bug.

40 breeder is too small a tank for either of those fish. Trets get pretty nasty and nkambes are on the large side.

These fish are very nice but wicked in behavior when breeding occurs. The fourth gallon wil be great for the kendallis but as far as it goes for the tretos, they will require a tank of fifty or more depend how many you got. They are great breeders and can yield in between 40 or so fry at a time. Also I like to mention that you will need to cover up your intake on the filter with mosquito netting that you can find at any dollar store. Use a rubber band when you attach the netting to the intake. Using twist ties is a big N O N O!!!! Here is the break down.... twist ties contains metal. Metal will rust. Rust will kill fish!!!!! Becomes very toxic!!!! you can feed the fry crushed flake food or baby brine shirmp. The shirimp should be fed only once a day. clay flower pots make great spawning caves. Slate can be used also. Try these tips and have fun raising all the fry!!!!!!!
