| Have Mystery/Apples, maybe able to get you around a dozen for you to grow off and breed. There maybe more, need to check my daughters tank and see how many she has. I will be at DFW Aquarium Supply on Tuesday if you would like for me to bring some up. | |

Get the Mystery/Apple Snails. They can be very prolific however they lay their eggs on the side or the lid of your tank above the water line. The eggs are a simi hard case so they can be removed very easy. Also your water level has to be down low enough for them to lay, mine seem to prefer a good inch or better. Mystery's will not eat plants unless there is nothing else for them to eat. If you give them algae tabs when you are low on algae in the tank they will never harm a plant. Dont mistake them being on a plant as them eating it, they will clean the algae from your plants as well. They come in come in colors such as Golds, Black, Blue (gray), Pink and Purple. The latter two will cost you a bit as they are not as common. Last if you miss a clutch of eggs and they do hatch get you a couple of DoJo loachs. They will leave your older snails alone but they just adore young escargot Hope is helps you out, oh and one last note is these guys can get BIG, I had one that was the size of a golf ball.

| The Mystery/Apple snails are great for ponds. I keep them in mine through the summer months. They can get very large feeding on algae in the pond all summer.......... I also have Mystery Trumpet snails in my tanks. | |

I would not count it as a # birth control lol but I know mine never did till I let the level drop. Even if they lay though its in a big cluster so you cant miss it. Very easy to remove and there for no babies. Also they are not self reproductive and require a male and a female. What we done to slow things down is when we caught them breeding (this is the only way I knew to sex them) we removed our males from the tank till we reached all females.

| Kory, just keep the Malaysian trumpet snails in a tank with only a sponge filter and no HOB, sometimes they can wander up into a HOB and jam the impeller. I've only had it happen with my 20y/o whisper filter.... but thought I would mention it. |
