| It possibly looks like an over production of slime? If so a few water changes are in order. |

| Hello, I agree with fern. Several small water changes will help. You may want to do some water tests. I usually prefer to immediately go towards water pollution. You can't go wrong with decreasing the condition of the water. Some fish will at times produce excess slime when water is not in ideal conditions. | |

| Did someone steal his spot? Stress either environmental or physical is what tends to cause over production of slime. So check them both, water changes and a close eye on him and other inhabitants and you should either see the issue or fix it by water changes. |

| Check the ammonia/nitrite levels in the tank.......Ammonia burns will cause heavy slime build up. | |

I know it's NOT ick.... but I doesn't look like slime either... And every time I put my hand in the tank it will swim up and try and scratch it self agginest my hand... Redness near the tail..... So yeah, if you'll know anything about this plz let me know... I don't want this lil guy to suffer than it already has... | |

| Looks like you need antibiaotics...there are a few foods with antibioctics already included. I could not tell you if they work but it might be worth a try. | |

| That's a good website, thanks for the link! As for the oral antibiotics - I used to have this stuff that dripped out in gel bubbles. I would put my hand under the blue oranda that was always sick, bring him up to where just his mouth was out of the surface and drip out an antibiotic bubble into his mouth. It worked out well. (ended up loosing the fish when I got tired of always treating him. Weak immune system - since I lost none of the others in the tank)

| If you can get him in an isolation tank with no/little light and turn the heat up. Fish are like humans when they are sick they do not lick to eat...try putting somke garlic flavor with his food my fish go crazy for the stuff also has added vitamins in the sea-chem version | |

| It is a bacterial infection that may be columnaris....If it is the whole tank will have to be treated because it is very contagious.......I would treat with Maracyn and Maracyn II together which will have a shotgun effect on gram negative and gram positive bacteria. | |
