MALE OR FEMALE?

HOW CAN YOU TELL IF A PLECO IS MALE OR FEMALE?

good luck. post some pics. sometimes the odontodes are more and longer on males (look hairy). also the shape of the pec fins and head sometimes can give an indication.

What kind of Pleco?

Could question above? If they are bn then no problem.

In most fully mature Plecos the females will be much rounder. The males stay Sleak and slim. I have a Clown pleco that is 2 years old and she is a very round almost fat looking. Some times the Males will have develop bigger barbells. Some sources claim that the chin barbells are somewhat smoother in females.

It really depends on the kind you have. Some males also will be smaller but in another type the female is smaller. It comes down to what pleco do you have.
