| It would be pretty hard to collect all the scattered eggs. | |

| Just a quick question about Cherry Barbs breeding habits. The other night as I was watching my tank, the male cherry barb began to almost dance with the female, rubbing against her and spinning around in circles and loops. After a bit of a read up, I found that they preferred to spawn in heavily planted aquariums, which mine definitely does have more plants than others I've seen around, but I could not seem to see any eggs attached to plants, etc. Saying that though, it is a bit of a forest at the back, so they could easily go unnoticed, seeing as I have no real experience with what eggs look like. My only real breeding experience is with guppies and platies, with none whatsoever with egglayers. Any help with more info about their breeding habits, what their eggs actually look like and how to raise fry would be greatly appreciated, and if anyone thinks if this could actually be breeding behaviour? I'm not sure what else it could be, but again I haven't had any real expericne with breeding egg layers before. | |

| Egg scatterers will drop eggs everywhere. If you have a little bit of flow they can be hard to see. Definitely a little harder to reproduce. | |

| Yes that is spawning behavior. Like Flippercon and I have said before they are egg scatterers. You will not see them stuck to any plants or anything like that. They will drop the to bottom and chances are get eaten. If you want to breed them put them in a bare bottom breeding tank with the decor marbles at the bottom. This way the parents can't get at then and eat them. After spawning is done take the pair out. In a few days you will see tiny fry hatching. They are very tiny so you have to look very close. I use a magnifying glass to see them. Have infusoria ready to feed the fry. | |
