| Well saw these hybrids they were like an inch maybe 1.5 and they wanted 19.99 for one. They were labled as a hybrid. I lost my faith in that store. | |

| This is totally new on me. It sounds like a name someone made up for a hybrid - I wish the LFS would use scientific names and then put the common name in quotes or something, but that's a pipedream! | |

| they were not listed as a hybrid just:
diamond scale hap. "when adults some of the scales turn iridescent"
They are all black with like grey pattern on them no color at all.

| Well keep in mind that they also are quite often mistaken when naming their fish. Haha. | |

| Yeah might as well. I kind of forgot you said it was black and it turned colors as it aged. The problem with that is how many fish do exactly that lol. O well maybe once you get a good picture we can ID it haha. | |

| It sounds like a hybrid to me. I have kept haps of all sorts before and never heard of this cichlid . If you are still wanting to purchase this fish, if you just want it as a show fish, then I guess it will be fine but some people are not into hybrids at all. I love the tropheus that I keep and hybrids in this fish would be a crime!!!! The purer the breed, the more beautiful the fish and their behavior. Hybrids tend to go a little snakey and tend to get sick often.Their immune system are not as strong. Try to stay pure. | |
