CAST your net out and open a space for a rare species!!

Everything will be tracked and documented right here on USA Fishbox.

The CAST program was invinted by me on 4-2-11. I was thinking about getting a program started for some time. At first I did not know where to really go with the program but I really wanted to make sure the goal was all about conservation and helping these rare species of fish that are in the hobby. I have read in to other programs like C.A.R.E.S. and also one that HCCC started to keep these rare species of fish going strong. I have made a bunch of my own ideas with a little mixing of others and I think I have created another monster!!

The only requirements to get involved in this program is be a member of USA Fishbox, have space for a rare species and sign a letter of aggrement on the rules and requiremnts in the program.

Rules and requrements are simple.

-You must agree that NONE of the fry will ever be sold unless it's a donation going back in to the program.

-You must agree that NONE of the parents/breeders will ever be sold.

-Everything will be documented on USA Fishbox, so you must have a way of taking pictures and must give feedback weekly to bi weekly updates on everything.

-You must agree that these fish are actually NOT YOURS. They are owned by the CAST program. YOU are only caring for them.

-If you fail to meet the requirements at anytime you will be removed from the program and fish will go to someone else. IF YOU SELL FISH behind the programs back you will be banned, removed and forever knows as a fraud! Very sincear about what the program is about.

I am looking to get people involed. I would like to see this expand in the North Texas and surrounding areas. But this does not exculde anyone who lives elsewhere.

This cost nothing but a helping hand and a small donation. ( $1-$2 per fish. Fish will be ready at 1" or larger.) You will be aloud a min. of 6 fish and a max. of 20 of one species. You can have as many species as you want.

If you have a tank 20G or bigger let me know and I will get with you to discuss details on what species we can put in your tank.

If you don't have a tank or $$ to get one. I can get one for you just lend me the space. Please get with me if you have space for a tank and are willing to help the CAST program. (once the program gets bigger we will be able to help with some finances)

The fish that are choosen to put in your tank will be tracked by all of us here at USA Fishbox. I want to keep track of who has the fish, how many, if they are spawning and where the fry go. ALLLLL fry that are breed will be donated to other tanks for CAST. None will be sold unless it is for donations.

I think it would be awesome to have many species and grow the #s in the thousands and keep track of everything!

20 fish seems like a bunch lol. i figured in groups of 10 when possible lol.

10 or 20. I think a bigger group is better.

still would like to help out with some livebearers in need just not sure on how to find them ive been checking around though but if im able to find some rarer more in neeed live bearers im hoping i can register them with the CAST program :)

Hi... I'm not sure I follow all this. Are you saying that you'll provide tank, filtration, lighting, substrate, etc., all for keeping fish and sending the fry on to other members? Who would bring (or how would I get) the equipment? Is there any choice of what types of fish or equipment we would get? I'm pretty much only interested and somewhat knowledgeable about African Cichlids.

Just trying to figure this out!

Program needs to raise money 1st before it can do that. I would like people to offer space and open a tank that they have or are willing to get. Once program gets bigger and fish start to breed $$$ for the program will come in and we can buy and set up tanks for one another. All this will be tracked on USA Fishbox, species, fry money everything

the fry are going to be distributed to other members at $1 a head i think. but i am not sure so check with kory

Sell the fry for 1-2$ each, all that money will go back into the program which will all be documented here on USA Fishbox.

Do yearly auctions for the program, and take in donations such as filters, fish, holey rock, aquatics equipment and re sale it for a donations to the CAST program which all will be documented right here on USA.

This is a one man crew working here so I am still pulling ideas and info together to complete everything once that is done I will do a nice layout for the program and explain everything bit by bit, For now let's get our feet wet and get some fish spread out!

That's after a massive cut down. I had 18 at one point.

Won't be long before I have Neochromis greenwoodi &
Mbipia cf. lutea Yala Swamp "Cross Bar" and more Ruti island. Give me 3-4 weeks, they are all still .25"

I have 20 or so Neo. greenwoodi, 40 or so Cross bar and 20 or so ruti island.

Could put a good colony in that 40G and that 55G set them up for the program and I will let the fish go for .50 cents each and that money will go back into the program.
