So me and hubby went out hand catching some fish, i got this guy and think hes really cool and would like to keep him if its at all possible. I caught him at a small river/creek with semi fast moving water Rocky substrate. He looks kinda like a carp.... anywyas i would really like to keep him if he would be happy here so i need to know what he is before i can determine if he would work in one of my tanks or if i should just let him go tomorrow :)

Thats a male creek chub in spawning mode, im not sure on exact species though. He will loose the tubricles and reddish coloring sooner or later.

It would only get to be a foot long max but i think at 80 degrees he wouldnt last long. I'm sure they would do fine in aquariums just not heated ones since they come from small creeks and streams that have much cooler water.

yeah thats what i was thinking i dont have a specific tank for him though so i will probably just let him go, all my tanks are heated to around 75-80 we hand caught like 30 of them today but let them all go but him so i know where to find them if i ever want to set up a tank for one though!

Nice. If you ever do, brown trout live fine in room temp aquariums and are awesome tank mates for chub
