| Well wanted to give everyone an update here. After a week of wiggling away and losing many eggs due to them not being fertilized I have a healthy and finally free swimming pack of 20+ left. Some are a little smaller then other but they all are active. The have been munching away at some freshly hatched baby brine shrimp. I will have to add another write up in the DIY section with how I made the hatchery. 3 2ltr soda bottles some PVC pipe and a bunch of air tubing but I now have a continuous factory for fresh brine haha. | |

| This time around I prepared a little more. She seems to like her PVC haha go figure so I used a heater hold suction cup and hung two vertical pipes for her to spawn on. Earlier today she cleaned the pipe and got the male interested in helping with the chores and I was surprised to find she was already laying them down only a few hours later last time she took a almost two days to get started. | |

They are in a 55 Gallon alone, bare bottom, sponge filter, 76-78 degree, 7.4 PH. Feeding them Tetra flakes 1 or two times a day. Rest of the time it is either freeze dried blood worms or frozen brine shrimp. Very small feeding but they get them often.

| An update for everyone, So last night I was a little sad to find that the Angel pair started eating their eggs. This morning the PVC pipe was clean and the male and female where hanging out in the bottom of the tank. So I went to work and came home feeding my other fry as always. I went through my daily return from work routine and started feeding all the fish. I noticed the Angel pair was still hanging around the bottom of the tank and the male appeared somewhat aggressive when I put food in (he is normally wanting to eat out of my hand haha) THEN to my surprise I noticed why he seemed so mean... he was guarding all the wigglers! A large batch of them they "hand" picked from the other infertile eggs. They laid them all on a piece of slate in the tank. It looks like maybe well over 50+ this time might make it into wiggling stage. What a time! here is a picture. | |

| Sure is! I really wanted to see if the parents would raise them till they are free swimming after that I can take care of them pretty easily. My other batch is already getting much bigger and stronger. I got a can of Utah Brine shrimp in (premium 90%+ hatch rate) and they ate the first batch today. What a difference in hatch rate compared to the store bought kind. The dropper I use to suck them out was just full of little babies compared to the store bought that is normally mostly water. | |

| did u get the shrimp from brine shrimp direct or somewhere else?
not happy with the batch i have, but i think i need to get the bottle a little warmer than room temp.
how many baby angels did you get your first batch? how many wiggler eggs turned into swimming fry? did you separate the parents from the fry as soon as they became swimmers?
i have about 40 or 50 wigglers right now, the parents have been super busy moving them to 4 different leaves on the anubia, but still hoping they move to the slate so i can move them all to their own private tank.
but may have to wait til they are swimmers and suck em out then.
i have been an anxious wreck watching them move their wigglers, when one drops and they miss it - i am pointing and worrying, but they eventually get all of them i think cause they scour the rocks every so often.

| I got this batch from bring shrimp direct. I'll have to take a picture of my hactery setup. To describe it quickly though it is three 2L soda bottles with the bottoms cut off. Air line tube ran through the cap at the bottom. They are held upright by 1inch PVC pipe. The top portion of the bottle snugly fits in a T fitting for the pipe. Then each bottle is connected to a port on my air splitter. I then put the whole thing in a Tote and fill it partially with water. I stuck a 300watt heater in the tote keep it at 81 degrees. It heats all the bottles evenly and the brine hatch in about 18 hours. I add about 1.5L of water and 2Tbs of regular non ionized salt to the mix and 1/4Tsp of baking soda to up the PH. Then I just use the little scoop they provide with the shrimp.
My First batch has 29 Fry. I would say about half the wigglers made it to be free swimming but most got hit with fungus. I was not really ready for them and should have moved the eggs to a smaller tank to treat for fungus rather then the large tank. This new batch did much better with fungus and since I wanted to see what the parents would do I let the eggs sit with them this time. They ate all the fungus eggs and moved only the healthy ones so that answered my questions on that from now on.
I personally am going to wait till they are swimmers and move them to my little feeding tank and by the the other fry will be big enough to go in one of my 10gallons.
I figure that until the free swimming point the parents don't have to do much but keep track of them and they can do that 24/7 I on the other hand have to sleep and work... haha
