Ok so I've had my gentle giant pleco in the 47g for the winter by himself. He'll go back in the pond once the weather gets warmer. So I put the betta fry in that tank yesterday as a grow out tank for them. The thing is he doesn't bother them but they keep nipping at him. Do you think they will clean all his slim coat off? Do you think I should take them out?

I have no advice but just love that little betta with the blue fins right next to the fin of the pleco! How cute is that!!!

No clue but that is just too cute!!! Would think if it was truly bothering him he'd move away from them but by the photo doesn't seem to phase him.

Well he does keep moving around. I'll just have to keep an eye on him. He's like a moving smorgesboard(sp) for them. LOL

Okay then I'd worry that if they truly tick him off that he could hurt, mame or worse because I had a couple that would whip up my Oscars with their tail if they got to messing with them.

Look for him moving suddenly when they are picking on him or the tail slap. Both would be signs that it is irritating him.

Very very cute pic!!!

I would be afraid he bolts out of the tank at his size he could jump hard enough the move a regular plastic top unless a brick or something heavy is on it.

Well he is very non aggressive and he usually will just go back to his favorite spot on the back wall of the tank then come back down a few minutes later.

Vix the top is a heavy plastic cover with two heavy lights on top of that.

Whisper, I would take the annoying pest fish out. Bettas can be awful pests to plecos of all sizes and it's not good for sedentary fish like plecos to have to keep changing their position. It leads to a great deal of stress, even in a large fish. Not to mention that all that nipping can't be good for him, even at his size.
