First topic message reminder :

I stumbled on this site a few days ago from a Google search and I've been hanging around ever since. :)

I had a fish tank about 7 years ago, but unfortunately I had some VERY loud neighbors and the fish died from stress. Their water was always vibrating and they all died except my bala shark which I was able to give away to a friend before he died. :(

So now I am back in a house without a stereo bumping through the walls 24/7 and I decided to get my kids a fish tank for Christmas. We started with a 20 gallon and put a few mollies and a betta in that. The mollies had babies and now I have a 1 gallon with 17 babies in it on my kitchen counter. o_O And now she's ready to pop again soon!

We loved the kids' fish tank so much that we just got a 55 gallon for our own fish! We were able to find an unfinished aquarium stand on Craigslist for $40 that I stained and then we got the tank from our LFS yesterday. It will be a month or two before we put any fish in there, but I'm working on plans for the aquascaping now. I can't wait! I've never had a planted tank before because I always thought it would be too hard. I finally have the courage to start, so expect some questions in the near future!

Oh, and my husband couldn't wait to get some more fish, so we also have 2 opaline gouramis and a brown ghost hanging out in the 20 until we can get our 55 cycled.

hi

1.hello and welcome!

2. I second you on the saltwater tanks! I got a real good feel for freshwater and plants right now. I moved up like most other people. 10G with a few small fish then a 55G more fish... then plants then wanted more space for plants... 90G... more fish more plants... 125G more Plants CO2 yeah... you get the idea I hate to think what is next haha! Good luck!

It's like a backwards 12 step program! Love it!

You saw my original post from Tuesday... Well it's Wednesday night (really just turned Thursday for me) and I scored a 10 gallon and an 18 gallon fully loaded with a stand lights, heaters, filters, air pumps, and a bunch of other goodies on Craigslist for $40 total! I spent some time cleaning the tanks out super well and they look great! My babies now have a new home with the 10 gallon, and I have an empty 18 gallon to play with. Score!

rock on
