| I stumbled on this site a few days ago from a Google search and I've been hanging around ever since. :) I had a fish tank about 7 years ago, but unfortunately I had some VERY loud neighbors and the fish died from stress. Their water was always vibrating and they all died except my bala shark which I was able to give away to a friend before he died. :( So now I am back in a house without a stereo bumping through the walls 24/7 and I decided to get my kids a fish tank for Christmas. We started with a 20 gallon and put a few mollies and a betta in that. The mollies had babies and now I have a 1 gallon with 17 babies in it on my kitchen counter. o_O And now she's ready to pop again soon! We loved the kids' fish tank so much that we just got a 55 gallon for our own fish! We were able to find an unfinished aquarium stand on Craigslist for $40 that I stained and then we got the tank from our LFS yesterday. It will be a month or two before we put any fish in there, but I'm working on plans for the aquascaping now. I can't wait! I've never had a planted tank before because I always thought it would be too hard. I finally have the courage to start, so expect some questions in the near future! Oh, and my husband couldn't wait to get some more fish, so we also have 2 opaline gouramis and a brown ghost hanging out in the 20 until we can get our 55 cycled.

| Thank you for the warm welcome everyone! And KMX, what haven't I searched on Google? LOL I have become obsessed with all things fish related and I'm always out browsing the net to find more information.
And Sal, I have a lot of work to do on the 55, but I'm already looking for another small tank (10-20 gallons) for my molly fry too...just don't tell my husband. I'm hoping he won't notice. Hehe ;)

| LOL Larry. He'll be alright. But I'm on the border of College Area and La Mesa. Not too far from Poway! Do you have a free small tank? j/k | |

| well I had over 60 fish until a couple weeks ago, but keeping both freshwater and saltwater was becoming more of a chore then it was fun so i decided it was time to take a break for a little while and just settle on one kind. So I decided to goe t the way of saltwater. check out the stock list thread | |

And Larry, it was really nice talking to you too. Good luck with your saltwater adventure! Maybe one day I will be brave enough to try it too!

| Thanks for the welcome halnick. Once I get the freshwater thing down I'll probably try saltwater, but trust me, you want me to do one at a time.

| 1.hello and welcome!
2. I second you on the saltwater tanks! I got a real good feel for freshwater and plants right now. I moved up like most other people. 10G with a few small fish then a 55G more fish... then plants then wanted more space for plants... 90G... more fish more plants... 125G more Plants CO2 yeah... you get the idea I hate to think what is next haha! Good luck!
