I just noticed my 3" Frontosa swimming funny today. When I looked at it closely, I saw that she was holding something in her mouth and thus having a difficult time swimming. How long should I let her hold before I attempt to strip? Is it typical for such a small frontosa to be holding?

I would not be surprised to hear her spit in a few days. Are you 100% its eggs? Did you feed them before you looked at them? they hold for 28-30 days give or take a few. Some people spit them at 2 weeks. I guess it all depends on what you prefer.

When I was breeding Frontosa, I would strip them at 5 days, they did had a habit of trying to eat when holding.

She's holding bubbles. Ifnshe has difficulty swimmingnthen I am pretty sure she's holding bubbles/air. A holding female shoo ld notnhave difficulty swimming, its should be able to swim normally when holding.

That is interesting. I didn't know that they would just hold air. It does look like she is holding air. Her tail is floating up and she is just using her side fins to swim.

Strip it to find out. Stressed fish usually does that. Most of time they do that for no reason at all. I hope I am wrong but we'll find out in a few days if you strip her :-)
