So My A/C is broken and all of my tanks are at 86F. I've put ice in all of the tanks but I've already had a few cory fry check out on me. I'm hoping its just my thermostat wiring again.... I will have to tear down my 20g show tank and move the entertainment center it sits on though get to it to check though... |

| None of my tanks are on the floor, but somehow someone finds a way to try to get a drink, but now I have lids or hoods or canopies to foil their plans! | |

| a high temp does not mean your tank is in trouble along as it is consistent. like lordraptor1 said, his tnak stays at a fairly high temp, you run into problem with flux's in temp 78 one day 83 the next...that will cause way more problems than a constant 83-84 | |

| It was a 10 degree flux so it wasn't good but wasn't fatal for most of my fish. I just lost a few cory fry. |

| I read a while ago an alternative to a chiller for SW. I have never tried it, but I think it would be a little bit better than ice cubes in the HOB. Basically, take an HOB, no media, and use frozen label less bottles of water instead of ice cubes. Don't forget to take some space out of the bottle since it'll expand. I think it'll work slower than the ice cubes because it's a larger piece of ice with less surface area to melt, and you can reuse and refreeze the bottles when you swap them out. I think you'd need what, 6 bottles, 2 at a time, lasting 6-8 hours each? So like fresh ice bottles before work, swap after work, and maybe another swap before bed? | |
