| So My A/C is broken and all of my tanks are at 86F. I've put ice in all of the tanks but I've already had a few cory fry check out on me. I'm hoping its just my thermostat wiring again.... I will have to tear down my 20g show tank and move the entertainment center it sits on though get to it to check though... |

| Go home and give the poor fish some ice. Get yourself a candle and a magazine you will be fine..... Unless you are afraid of the dark |

| im no FW pro but id say move all the fish if you can, if you have a fan you can circulate the air around the top of your tank to move the hot air produced by your lights and if it is a covered tank, take the lid off. i no people say ad ice but ive had better luck doing water changes with cold water to decrease the temp fast floats so it takes longer to melt and cool off the water plus, ice is actually adding water(not much) but you are adding water to hot water not replacing hot water with cold water i also wrapped the majority of my tank in foil, this kept the light and hot air from heating up my glass | |

| I did all of the above except the tinfoil trick. I was putting the ice in my HOB filters so it was melting and circulating quickly. The air is still running *knocking on wood* And all the tanks are at their proper temps... I haven't looked for any casualty's yet. Its still too early to turn the fish lights on. |

| If the temps come back up i'd increase the waterchanges on the tanks and use luke warm, or just cooler water than usual and that should bring the temps down. | |

| Did all of yours survive holey? You should hit a bait & tackle store and get a few more battery operated air pumps. I have 7 of them for hurricane season....... |

| if you can, id remove the lids completely i use a lid in the winter time and I dont even need a heater because my lights do the trick, summer time i take the lid off, it can make that much of a difference | |

that is why you dont set the tank on the floor . i have cants and dogs myself and my tank is on a 3 foot tall stand and the tank is roughly 24" tall and i have no problem with the cats onlyt issue is the kittens getting behind the stand but as of yet i have had no problem. i have more issues from evaporation than animals drinking the water (one good drink of saltwater and they dont do it again ) |

| Hmmm.... I never thought about that... I was planning a row of 20gs on the floor under my big rack.... I wonder if my shish tzu can reach that high I doubt it but it is something I need to keep in mind...... |

| None of my tanks are on the floor, but somehow someone finds a way to try to get a drink, but now I have lids or hoods or canopies to foil their plans! | |
