help...aquarium hood?

I got a free hexagon tank and stand from a friend.... from testing for leaks I used a little less than 4 five-gallon buckets, so I'm figuring it is an 18 gallon tank.

Here's the problem.... no top.. any ideas on where I can find one or what I can do to build one

YOu can always build one youself. Glass or wood. I know you can order them but they cost a litte $$$.

just get a Sweet a$$ hanging light fixture and make it and open top tank!
Hex tanks always look nice like that!

Unless you stock it with jumpers you don't need a hood, out of my 33 tanks only 5 have hoods on them.
Or if you really want a nice top go to a window shop with the dimensions (remember the hinge and filter) and have them cut you one, shouldn't be too much. The hinge you can get at a LFS.

if you can find someone who does acryllic or plexiglass get some wooden step gaurd (L shapped found near 1/4round and other mouldings) cut wood mount plexi on top

Ya the plastic strip hinge, so you can open and close it. My lfs sells it by the foot.

Open top with a vanity or even a pendant light hanging down. Perfect! ;o)

For hex tanks I like the open top, heavily planted because of the decreased surface area for O2 exchange,
