| Hello- My name is Liz and I've been in the hobby for 27 years, give or take. I've kept most every FW fish you can think of over the years. I've participated in many forums, moderated several, and am currently an infrequent visitor to forums but this one caught my eye, and I think it would be great to meet some other Richmond, VA fishkeepers. This town does not support the advanced FW hobbyist very well, IMO!
My current setups are as follows:
150-gallon FW Lake Tanganyika biotope ready for frontosa and N. compressiceps and/or calvus, and possibly N. leleupi. This tank was recently a SA biotope, with wild caught P. leopoldi (a cousin of your domestic angelfish), C. sterbai, and large schools of rummynose, cardinals and loretto tetras. This was a heavily planted, CO2 injected tank that I recently tore down and redid in the deep water Lake Tang style. This tank has white aragonite sand, rocks, and a slate background. It is lit by a few LED lights for a deepwater, moonlit effect. Filtration includes a Fluval FX5 and a Rena Filstar XP4. Currently housing 6 fantail goldfish holding a cycle for me while I save $$$$ for my very expensive frontosa - looking for 10 juveniles of one of the Zaire variants, which are more expensive than your typical Burundi.
40-gal breeder, FW SA heavily planted. This tank contains 3 of the WC leopoldi angels that used to be in the 150, and a single silver domestic that I bred from a marvelous pair I used to have, along with het rasboras, ember tetras and a single female ram. Eheim classic canister filtration.
37-gal FW with a pair of WC leopoldi angels, planted. I doubt these fish will spawn for me without much, much softer and more acidic water than I am currently willing to provide, but since I could not fit all of the angels in one tank I decided to remove a male and a female to reside in this tank and see what happens. Eheim ECCO filtration (do not recommend these filters!)
10-gal brackish with a figure-8 puffer, Otis, lightly planted, AC 70 filtration (that's right, I said 70. When I filter, I FILTER. These puffers are dirty fish and he has a very meaty diet, so this tank needs lots of attention. I'd like to upgrade to a 20-gal tall and the current filter can move right up too, but so far he's a happy fellow in his current digs.
I will post pics of the tanks in the photo section.
