HELLO FELLOW VIRGINIA AFRICAN CICHLID LOVERS newbie here

I just made a profile i wasnt exactly sure on where to post because i saw so many places but here goes...

I Joined today as a new member in hopes of networking and getting to know some fellow African Cichlid enthusiasts.

i first started working with african cichlids back in 2005 and through a move and stopped but now im lookin to get the hook up on some connections towards getting back into my african cichlids hobby.

I use to have 3 tanks all african cichlids now i have to get started all over from scratch. I like the lake Malawi varieties peacocks and mbuna due to the salt water affect they have as far as colors and their character, very colorful active fish.

So if anyone can help me with some african cichlids to get my aquarium going again I'd gladly appreciate the help....!!!

Welcome to the Box! If your wanting to get back into africans in this area may I suggest a trip over to Cichlid Solutions. He has a great selection there and is a very nice guy to talk with. You can check out the Central Virginia Chapter to see the past meetings and things around the area. And as said above the Tidewater chapter has a meeting on Aug 20 if your up for a road trip.

Welcome African757 the good news is your list is going to be pretty easy to acquire. I can't really do much because I'm pretty much Victorian all the way and don't have any of those but I do know they are pretty easy to come by. Like JD said come on down to the Tidewater meeting and maybe you'll get some of the fish you want. If not there is Animal Jungle and they have a pretty large selection of those.

Welcome to the forum. I have rusty fry and a holding lab . I'm thinking or maybe bringing some of the rusty fry to the meet depending on the size . The lab won't get stripped for another 3 weeks . Hope you find your fish

Okay im just now finding my way back to this post lol i was a little lost checking the site out

Im actually originally from the 757 area originally but relocated to the 804. As far as being able to make the meet in chesapeake i guess time will tell if i can make it back down that way or not.

I figured i would post on here to see if there was anyone in the 804 that may have any of the mbuna, or peacocks. I would normally find fish here and there all over 757 when i used to live there. There were a few people i use to get fish from locally that they just had them as pets and either downsizing, moving, had too many due to growing populations not having enough space to house them.

Most of the time being pretty reasonable if not free i wish i still had their contacts but its been a lil while.
