My dubs are not very good moms so I strip mine & throw em in the tumbler (jehmco has real nice ones). Dubs go about 28 days, but have eyes & tail in about 14 days. It is cool to see an egg with 2 lil eyes & a tail!!! They have small batches anyway. What kind of trophs do you got??? Good luck... Topheus Holding 690297

Either way. Mine tend to have more eggs early, less fry later, kinda thing...

Put her in a 10g with a sponge and see if she will hold to term, its sooooo much easier when they are willing to hold the whole time. Then just raise them up in the 10g till they look large enough to go in with the colony and not get eaten.

They will hatch in approximately 3-5 days and fully developed in 28 days days like other mouth brooding cichlids. When I had my sp. Red moliro, I let them spit inside the colony. Provide some cover for them to hide. Although trophs won't usually maul their youngs some aggressive fish will. Are they on a species only tank? Trophs are algae grazers and should not eat their youngs.

I have been keeping tropheus for some years now and I never had to strip a female before. I have lots of hiding places in my tank and watching the fry go in and out of the rocks with the parents is a awesome site!!!! Patience!!!!! Some trop. females will take as many as 3 trys to get the hang of it. Just sit back and enjoy the show and pretty soon, fry everywhere!!!!!
