| I got some newer pics of the tank after I cleaned it this weekend. Should have waited until some of the corals were more open. I didn't get pics of some of them since they were closed up. Please don't mind the algae that I am still fighting with. Nothing wants to eat it so I pull it by hand and suction it out. A pic of the whole tank... Right side of the tank... Left side of the tank... Green/blue striped mushroom...has had four babies and spreads about 2-1/2" across fully open... Sand sifting star... Something my fish guy calls red razor algae (maybe someone knows the correct name). This is the size when I bought it about four months ago... And now... A cool little guy that I think is called a limpet from researching online sucking on an empty shell... This zoanthid just keeps growing and spreading. I think I have it in three or four places in the tank now... Purple 'shrooms...

| CUC - Oh I get it now!
Well let's see...I bought a lawnmower blenny. He didn't eat my algae. He ate fish food and died about a month later. I bought two emerald crabs. They didn't eat my algae either. They ate the halimeda until I returned them to the store. I have hermits (3 or 4), one unknown type of snail, two bumblebee snails, and the limpet in there. I talked to folks at wetwebmedia and they said that sometimes there are algae types that are just not palatable. Looks like I have found one! Yay me! LOL I'm thinking of relocating the tank where it won't get so much natural light becuase it has gotten worse over the summer but the tank is aging too ( one year old this month ).
The light is a coralife that has a 10k and an actinic bulb in it. Yeah, that's my firefish! It is a pretty cool fish. 'He' was very shy until I got the second ocellaris. The first one (orange) always pestered him so he stayed hidden. Now that the clown has a friend of his own kind he leaves alone the firefish and we get to see him more often. He is actually my second firefish. I had one for about three months. Healthy as could be and then I bought a royal gramma. Should have left it at the store. I didn't Q it and put it in. Within a week the gramma died and took my firefish with it! The store said which one did I want in return so I said a firefish. It is a way cooler looking fish!

| Protein skimmer keeps coming to mind as the next thing that I need to buy for the tank. I went as bare bones as I could keeping in mind that I can always upgrade as need be. Well last year this was my anniversary present and tomorrow is the anniversary again so I may need to look into a skimmer soon. I do know that my fish guy said I would need one but not right away.
Any clues on what the red algae really is? My guy said he got it from a lady who had it in her tank and it is not readily available. I convinced him to sell me my tiny piece for $10. It is growing like crazy though.

| I try to change every weekend. Usually about 4-5 gallon one week and 7 the next. That way I'm doing about 15% and then 25%. I don't want to go to harsh of a change & disrupt my perfect biosystem I have going. If I miss a weekend I just do the larger change the next week.
All forms of life included in there : 2 clowns (one orange, one black) 1 firefish 1 sand sifting sea star (real name????) 3-4 hermits 3-4 snails 1 limpet That is it except the halimeda & red algaes and the corals (three different types of shrooms, 2-3 types of zoanthids, green star polyps, a few yellow polyps)
The rock is about 25-28 lbs.

| i think youll be good without a skimmer as long as you keep up with the weekly water changes...... you should look into a UV sterolizer!!! they keep your water clear as heck and kill off micro organisms and algea!!!! can get pretty pricey though! | |

Depending on their mood, LOL. Sometimes they host the zoanthids, sometimes the green star polyps and most often lately the flame algae. Sorry for the delay... LOL Photobucket wouldn't let me log in yesterday. Here is a pic of the whole tank... And a pic of the flame algae close up...
