| Live in Va. Beach as well. Saw a betta club a while back wish i got more info about them. They were having a showing/competion at the botanical gardens. Might check out the beacon in the paper to see if any clubs are around or the central library usually has posting about clubs. | |

| The only club I've heard of in the area is Tidewater Reefer's. If you find any freshwater or general saltwater instead of just reefs let us know! | |

| Animal Jungle in VA Beach is pretty good, as is PAWS in Lynchburg. I frequent Azalea in Richmond quite a bit, and once you get to know Keith he's not so bad! He can be amazingly difficult to deal with at first, depending on his mood. I've bought and sold many, many fish in that shop. He will also order just about any fish you want. You'll see he has had a display N. leleupi tank that has been set up for a couple of years, and those are my fish. I used to have a strong breeding colony of them and sold babies for several years, but got tired of that setup and traded the adults in to Azalea. I now want some leleupi again for my Tang tank I'm getting going in my 150, and he won't part with them!
I have a friend near me who is also in the hobby, and we are known to take road trips for a good LFS. We are thinking about going up to NOVA, since she belongs to the Potomac Valley Aquarium Society and there may be more "action" up there, lol. Not sure of the quality of those shops, however.

Almost always down for road trips/new adventures as long as it does not interfer with college.

| Fredericksburg sucks for shops. Unless there's other ones besides petsmart, petco, and maru's. But maru's is a pretty nasty place with not alot. Any suggestions. | |

| Went to Annandale super pets today up in annandale of course. They had a lot of fish. (well it was alot to me atleast) I didnt get anything bc they didnt have anything that jumped out at me besides the tons of Fronts they had. The people at fin and feather are real nice though. Waiting on their next stock to check out the juvinile peacocks. Is azalea aq the place next to RIR? And has anyone dealt with the individual on craigslist in richmond Cichlid solutions? Or is he on here perhaps? | |

| Im not sure if anyone on here has seen the add on craigslist for several different fish and supplies. It has Glenside and broad as the loacation. I contacted him today and went by his shop he is in the process of opening. He does have livestock for sale. A pretty good variety in my opinion. I ended up getting two sunshine peacocks and a venus. cichlid. Very nice gentleman. In case anyone has seen that add and considered calling i recommend checking it out. He has salt water fish too but i didnt look at what he had because i know nothing about it. If you want his number pm me. | |

| I understand that. When you get back might be worth just stoppin in and checking out. I'm sure if we got several people lined up to head that way he might give a price break if enough was bought. He also said he was tryin to set up a facebook page but you have to search by his name. James Snead. I just checked my 3 newbies I got from him last night and they are all doin good. I loves my Venus I got from him | |

| hello henrico here well richmond err shortpump hmmm glen allen they need to make up there mind...well anyway not too sure about richmond having a FW club but i do know we have a Sw club and two local SW only shops been into fish for the past 20 years and have seen the LFS come and go...around here Discus fish Keith at Azaela Aquariums has them on lock, for the Cichlid James snead is your best bet, for the lack of a better word common fish only option is pecto or petsmart. I would stay away from the fish at Fin and feather aswell as perfect Pets ,used to work there..both stores geared towards cats/dogs and dont maintain a quality fish dept IMHO. Saltwater for Fish see Joe at Fishworld kind of pricey but has a better quality of fish and for corals see Marvin at Atlantis aquariums he has the better price on corals but i havent had too good of luck with fish i have gotten there. Now down Hampton way cant help ya much on FW but if you are looking for Salt i would suggest Dale at The Reef Room or Chris at Reff Dynamics both fair and stand up guys. Just passing on alittle info i have gathered over the years not that you all didnt already have an insight for it. | |

| We don't have much of anything by way of a LFS up here in Fred. Folks at PetSmart mentioned Atlantis down in Richmond. I'm strictly a FW person at the moment. | |

| Hi everyone.... Im JB.... I'm new to the Virginia area (Hampton). (my wife is in the Air Force) which is what brought us here. I'm not new to Cichlids though. I have 50+ tanks up and running at most times. We moved here from Texas so I've met KMX and several of his gang in person at several Auctions in the Texas area. If you haven't met them in person they are really swell guys. I'm still in the Leadership Group for the Hill Country Cichlid Club (till they boot me out!).
My primary reason for coming here is to find some folks to (interact) with in person and hang out and do "Fishy" things! I've flown back to San Antonio for a fish auction already this year and will be going there next fall for FOTAS. If you guys want to discuss a road trip for that it will be well worth it. Anyway nothing is worse than having so many cool and endangered fish and noone around to share them with. I've done the fish store tours in the area and none of them seemed to know about fish clubs.... I'm guessing it's mostly because they see fish clubs as competition. How wrong ...........
Anyway I look forward to meeting with you all at a meeting one day soon. I saw there is something in Richmond in January. Maybe some of the folks that posted earlier want to carpool? I'm always ready to drive to hang with fish folks. I also have plenty of fry I need to spread around. Oh by the way I give most of my fish/fry away. I might put a few in an auction from time to time but for the most part I give em away. Take care and I hope to meet some of you very soon. How cool would it be to get a group of folks together to hang out and discuss fish! BIG THANKS TO FISHBOX.COM for this avenue! JB

| to , It will be great to have someone with knowledge of running a fish club in the Va area. What fish do you keep? We just had a member go to an auction in NJ last week from Va Beach and was looking for others to go with him. |
