I'm planning a 10gal planted betta tank. Are there any good tank mates for bettas? It would be a male. |

| I love him! I will have my bf take a look and tell me if he wants him. Them you can teach me all about bettas I've never had one before. The most I know is a planted 10g with a gentle filter that wont blow them around. |

| Well I really don't know where to start. Betta's are very interesting fish. For one thing they are much easier then the average fish to take care of. For starters you can do a 100% wc without worrying about water perameters. The only thing they require is dechlorinater in the water. They are also Labyrinth breathers. Which means they come up to the top to gulp air. Females can be kept together but males can't. Meaning more then one female can be in a community tank. Males also can be kept in a community tank but only one. Two males can not be together or they will fight to the death. The male is the one that takes care of the eggs and the fry for up to 4 days. The female will eat the eggs and fry. She has to be taken out right after spawning is done. The male stays with the eggs keeping them up in the bubble nest which he has made. When the eggs hatch to be fry he will continue to care for the fry until they become free swimming. He will then eat the fry and he has to be removed. | |

| Could you do a library entry for them? It would need a picture, some basic facts and some personal experience story's. |

| Hi pill. You can keep a few females together but not males. You can put the females in your community tank but the male will have to have his own tank. A samll 2.5gal. or 5 gal. is fine for one male betta. If the room that you would put him in is warm you wouldn't need a heater just a small filter keeping in mind that Betta's don't like high currant. What I do is put a plant in front of the down flow that helps to cut down on the currant. So let me know if you want any. I have some nice ones here . I can send you pictures if you are interested..................Also the ones sold in the stores are usually very old, out bred by the breeders or breeder rejects. | |

| okay i would like the females, i hav to hold off the male one for now until i can get a bigger tank for him. i do hav a 1.5 gal would u think that would work for temp until i get another on and cycle it. it will be faster cycling it now since i hav a established tanks. | |

| Yes the 1.5 will be fine. Don't worry about cycling it. Bettas just need dechlorinated water/RO/or Natural Spring water. We breeders do 100% wc and then refill the jars. I will PM you with prices. | |
