JB I agree what the thread posted because of the line breeding of recessive genes then to cross that..... Thats way too much work to do it right. I would attempt Breeding Umbees first | |

| There are too many beautiful fish that occur naturally to mess with that "junk" anyway. I saw some Red Texas at PetSmart here in Newport News and I asked the fish people if they were "dyed" or how they got to be red. The guys said, "Oh I think they come that way." I told him I was from Texas and I had snorkeled many many times and seen them in the wild and there wasn't any red ones! He said, "well then I'm not sure, but they came that way out of the bag when we got them." That is what is so disturbing about them. They are pretty..... I'll give them that but the average fish keeper doens't understand how bad hybrids are and that is a big problem because that's how they get out of control.... JB | |

| I don't mind hybrids at all , true there are fish out there that are way more beautiful but most of them are impossible to get or are far to expensive so the flower horns that i have purchased " thai silks" are a responsible price and I like them very much. As for them getting out of control I personally will never breed hybrids or ones I know for sure are hybrids just because it doesn't interest me all that much. | |

| Hi all! I just wanted to send my regrets - I WAS planning on coming, but it turns out my husband planned a surprise birthday party for me that day and he finally had to spill the beans so I'd show up, lol! I don't usually celebrate my birthday so it did not occur to me to stay home, but this time I'll have to. I'm definitely sorry to be missing it, since our last meeting we had in Richmond was such a success, due in no small part to the Tidewater members who made the trip. (We've got our next meeting slated for 2/26 at Cichlid Solutions - [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]I hope to catch the next Tidewater meeting, so I'll be watching the forum for it. | |
