The quickest growing breeders

I need a really good supply of live feeder fish. I have two pikes and they have about knocked out my overcrowding with fry. My question is what type of fish breeds the quick and grows quickly?

ok I have convicts and hrps, they cant keep up. I have never kept guppies, is there anything special about them?

Pelvicachromis Pulcher (kribensis) cichlid. Pelva/chromis =belly/color pulcher =beautiful. West Africa ravine cichlids.

They will of they fit in thier mouth. Kribensis get really nasty when breeding. I had 12 danios in with a pair of kribs and everyday one ended up missing when they would spawn.

i would say either mollies or guppies, every time i go in a fish store there always fry in there or the mom is prego

Any livebears specially guppy's Flip, and there dirt cheap i get 8 for a dollar at the LFS

marbled crayfish are good and fast breeders. i started with 7 babies in april 2011. and now ive got dozens.

you can go to animal jungle and get there babies for free.. also do people buy pike? and how much? i might start selling them in the summer around 2-4 inches

I don't think so, they had a Vieja pair in there a few weeks back with new free swimming fry and I asked if they were for sale and they said no. I asked why and they said they couldn't guarantee the fish would live. So asked If I could have a few and they said no... I was so confused ... I gave up, Those people get on my last nerve sometimes. furious

yeah me too! but both times i went to get free ballon belly mollies i got hem no hastle... the key is you have to find a women, then tell her how cute the are and ask if you can have a couple they usually give me around 5

oh, also i get the little cheap babies like mollies and platies, they dont seem to have a problem leting them go.

Convicts in Green water.... during warmer months get one of those little Swimming pools. Keep it in a 1/2 shady area. Then throw an adult pair of convicts in there. With the Mosquito larvae the fry will be breeder size withing a few months! Don't forget Convicts can spawn multiple times in very short periods. It's kind of difficult this time of year to get a bunch of spawning.

The easiest route would be to go to the fish store and get a bunch of rosey reds feeders. Don't feed them to your trout until you've treated for disease. Put them in a 55 gallon and treat with medications and give them a couple of weeks to grow out. Then just net a few out each day and feed the trout. I haven't bought them in years but I remember getting them for something like 500 for $10 or something like that.

Yeah i agree with you there. I was doing this with a 29 but it just got old going back for more and dedicating a tank to them for quarantine. I do have convicts and Hrps that I have been feeding. Maybe I should bump up the heat to like 80 and see id they spawn quicker.

I got some guppies from WildWiley and going to put them in a ten. Is there a recommended amount? Or a max amount?
