How does a person go about finding out what
is safe weight wise for a second story floor?

Anyone ever break a floor lol.. ?

Anyways it's all dead weight, I guess that
would be a local zoning, or building code thing...?

100gal tank = 800 lbs... just water, not tank, stand, rock...
Keeps adding up.... at what point does it become like parking
a small car, in your house?!.. Peace -JT

Lincoln Logs... :)

Its around 30 yrs, virginia type stuff..

I just never took into account the "falling over"
factor.. Some may know an earthquake hit
the east coast a few months back and I literally
went from cool, to "hold the tank until it goes, then
bail..".. if it went through the floor "unannounced"?? who knows...

Usually garage floors are rated, different degrees for whatever
they're intended,.. I didnt know if second story residential is also

............... Peace -JT

well i live in California and earthquakes arent a problem for us so much.youre just not used to it. lets just say youre not in the danger zone for that. do a termite inspection just to be sure and that should settle your nerves; it would be enough for me personally

but if youre really that paranoid have a professional home repair specialist take a look if the house hasnt been properly maintained.

Yeaaa.. I hear you.. only thing I can compare it to is a car crash..
...I've been in a few and, pretty sure the next one wont be 'any less'..

the ground 'rolled' like it was ripples in a pond after the pebble was dropped..

.....weird you know, the ground is supposed to always be 'there'.. you fall out
a building and the ground is there, ....fall off your bike...ground.... jump nose
first into a pool.....ground.... and then 30 years into it the ground drops out... trip..

That link up there sums up basicly you shouldnt go above 125 gal on a 'traditional'
residential 2nd story..

I give it up to you cali folk, yall tuff.....

I would find the floor joist in your room and make sure you set the tank to run across them, Not with them. Tipovers and floor breakings happen when some one places the tanks in between floor joist and the subfloor bows and tips the already Top heavy tank. Find a load bearing wall and place it near the it across the joist. If you can get between the joist you could frame it in 16 oc and use brackets.

a few nights ago and thought I saw a spider.... nelt down
right next to it and it jumped at me... it was a camel back cricket.
I screamed like a little bisshhh ..... video would be priceless...
